URBAN PLANNING

A core proposal of the international competition “Paris Réinventer” this project presents an innovative model of urban regeneration and air-rights development, creating new buildable land by three-dimensionally connecting spaces above the Boulevard Périphérique. As a symbolic collaboration between Korea and France, it fuses Marcel Duchamp’s avant-garde art with Jeong Seon’s (Gyeomjae) true-view landscape aesthetics, articulating a vision for a 21.5-century future city.

Designed in 2012 as Seoul’s future global icon, this project is the world’s first expandable media bridge. Infused with the artistic spirit of pioneering video artist Paik Nam-june, it transforms the Han River into a 24-hour cultural and tourism district. The 1-kilometer-long, six-level mega-structure integrates pedestrian circulation, convention spaces, culture, art, hotels, parking, marinas, and vehicular traffic, declaring Korea’s global leadership as the birthplace of media art through a monumental work of social installation art.
