HANOI PROJECT - ME TRI

2008

Hanoi, Vietnam

Overview

As part of Hanoi’s urban expansion, this large-scale new town development spanning approximately 1,000,000 pyeong was initiated by Daewoo Engineering & Construction and later fully advanced following its merger with Kumho Construction. The project consolidates the urban development expertise of Korean construction firms into a single, landmark initiative. By establishing a new “development axis” that connects Hanoi’s 1,000-year history with its future vision, the master plan symbolizes Vietnam’s rise as a global economic hub. More than a conventional new town, it was conceived as a monumental urban model representing the nation’s growth momentum.

Urban & Architectural Concept

Diamond Lake, a body of water imbued with the historic energy of the old city, is positioned as the city’s central anchor, forming a powerful urban focal point. Under the concept of a “Future Waterfront City” where heritage and modern infrastructure coexist, the plan delivers an eco-friendly landmark in which water and green spaces are seamlessly integrated. This strategic approach maximizes Hanoi’s geographical advantages and the latent potential of its waterfront, creating a vibrant, comfortable, and dynamic urban skyline.

Business Vision & Philosophy

By preserving the historical authenticity of the old city while securing long-term urban sustainability, the project establishes a future growth hub designed to lead Hanoi into its next millennium. As a self-sufficient mixed-use city integrating commercial, residential, and cultural functions, it is envisioned as both an international landmark attracting Vietnam’s emerging affluent class and global investors, and as a new economic heart driving the nation’s continued development.
