THE COCOON
(Gotjawal Cocoon House)
2011
Jeju, South Korea
Overview
This Signature Maison crowns Jeju Airrest City, the largest integrated resort ever developed in Jeju. Located within the Gotjawal Village, the project targets a global VVIP clientele, conceived not merely as a residence but as a high-end art residence where ownership itself is a mark of prestige. It stands as a singular landmark embracing an elite lifestyle where retreat, art, and social exchange converge.
Urban & Architectural Concept
Inspired by the protective form of a cocoon and Jeju’s volcanic landscape, the architecture adopts a biomimetic design language. A bold non-linear spatial composition dissolves the boundaries between floor, wall, and ceiling, transforming the building into a monumental architectural artwork. Locally sourced, eco-friendly Jeju materials are extensively applied, allowing the primal vitality of the Gotjawal forest and the rhythm of the four seasons to permeate the interior, creating a healthy yet mystical spatial experience.

Business Vision & Philosophy
Breaking away from conventional residential typologies, the project functions as a flexible luxury platform capable of hosting private galleries, libraries, and social gatherings. It offers residents a profound sense of sanctuary while generating collectible value that transcends traditional real estate assets. As a symbolic project, it presents a new global luxury-housing paradigm—one defined by perfect coexistence with nature.
